The Wind-Up Dune Chronicles. Until Next Year.

A few months ago, I was set a challenge to read Dune in time for a Dune in June Read-Along on Bluebird Blvd. It also became, fittingly, the first proper review to bring life back to my soundly sleeping dog (blog) project. This is my Dune review.

This is my first Saturday in 5 weeks with no Dune Joy to fill it. This morning, things were not quite right…

Then low and behold, I discovered a freshly pressed article, Brownies with Bite. Hoping this might fill the void in my day with brownie goodness, I found it was so so much more. Brownies with Bite by Olivia at Rollings Reliable is an excellent piece on relationships and fear, illustrated using the litany of fear from Dune and Spice Brownies – including a recipe. Dune lives.

If you are thinking you’ve missed out on being a part of the read-along… Let me tell you that it has been a splendid experience! You can read it and partake in the discussion at your leisure. The posts and threads will be up indefinitely over at Bluebird Blvd. Have a look starting from the Book Will Not Bite You: Dune in June Read-Along Week 4.

Finally, I have to give one last push to Mr Bluebird’s interpretation of the David Lynch Dune movie. It remains the funniest thing I have read all year. Make sure you check out the sequel (by popular demand).

And we are over the top! With or without Jim…

My friend Kate of “Old, New or True” wrote the perfect Dune In June wrap-up story. If you get a chance, please check out her blog. She writes about books with such passion, intellect, and verve that it will give you renewed vigor. Honest opossum, y’all.
